With the Blu-ray 2.0 spec (BD-Live) only days away, Sony has announced that the next PlayStation 3 firmware update [2.20] will add this new interactive feature to your PS3.
This means PS3 owners will be able to get downloadable video content, ringtones, interactive movie-based games and more. Full list below.
– ‘Resume Play’ enables PS3 systems to start playing a Blu-ray disc and DVD at the point where it was stopped, even if the disc was been removed.
– ‘Audio Output Device’ is a new Remote Play setting, allowing the PSP to serve as a remote control for music played through the console.
– PS3’s Internet Browser will be enhanced, allowing users to finally be able to watch streaming movies online, instead of downloading them.
– DivX and WMV videos larger than 2GB will be playable.
– ‘Mosquito Noise Reduction’ will be added as an AV setting in the DVD/BD control panel, for improved playback.
Sounds like a great update. Some of these features have been anticipated by owners for quite some time now.
